THE JSA IS COMING!!! Smallville- Absolute Justice January 31, 2010

So, as I sit in Starbucks with my roommate diligently working away on a Sunday afternoon; her on Grad School applications and me, well… on my blog (haha yeah I really love my life!)

She looks over and me and is like, “Umm why are you weirdly smiling at your computer???”  Because clearly this is work time and not fun time!

I reply, “IM WATCHING THE TEASERS FOR THE SMALLVILLE 2 HOUR MOVIE EVENT- ABSOLUTE JUSTICE!!!!!!”

She laughs, “Oook… you’re weird.”

yes… Maybe I look a little silly smiling at my computer, but I just can’t hide my geeky excitement!

Absolute Justice!!! The JSA is coming and it looks AMAZING!!!  Anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVEEE SMALLVILLE!  I have all the dvds, and yes I have actually re-watched them.  I’ll admit the first few season were a little rough, but I am so in it now!  They’ve been sneaking in previews for what’s to come with JSA for a while now so, when this latest preview showed up, I was like a giddy little girl on Christmas morning!  The only thing that could possibly make me happier would be a guest starring role on Smallville myself!  One day, one day CW!!!  I am available when you need me!

So, here’s the preview for you guys!  I hope that it brings joy to your hearts and smiles to your faces!

And sidenote, if you aren’t into comics ladies…  (let me prefaces this by saying, this girly moment should in no way deplete any of my fanboy cred! Thank you.)  The guys on this show are HOTTT!!!  I mean one name, Tom Welling.  IMDB him, I promise you will not be disappointed!!!  I mean HE IS Superman!

iPad Commercial! HOLY GENIUS!!!!! January 27, 2010

Ok, thank  you sooooooOOOOOOOooo much MADtv for putting what everyone’s been thinking into a delightful little video!  Side note, this is FROM 3 YEARS AGO!!!  Either the folks over at Apple have a great sense of humor, orrrr someone’s getting fired!!!!!!!!

Looks more like an iPon to me!

And I just love the fact that my guy friends are calling it the iThing.  They are just as uncomfortable talking about periods as they are saying iPad.  Which HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PERIODS GUYS! haha  This is absolutely AMAZING!!!

The Great Jobs has spoken- the iPad is here!!!

http://www.intomobile.com/.../ 2010/01/creation.jpg

So… the wait is officially over!  Steve Jobs introduced the Apple iPad earlier today to tons of excited Mac fans.  Part iPod Touch, part laptop, part… feminine hygiene product.

Ok, well not that last one… but, I mean really with a name like iPad who didn’t see the tampon jokes coming???  I mean, I will say when it’s my time of the month, I’ll feel clean and confident with the Apple iPad.

But, now that the cats out of the bag let’s talk about the latest gotta have Mac Gadget.  And yeah… even with the sucky name… I am drinking the Apple Kool-Aid!  And I WANT IT!!!  I mean reading the New York Times in the park on my trusty iPad!?!  The thought of having my comic books on a computer without fear of ripping the pages in my bag!?!  10 hours of battery power!??!  Umm sign me up!

Ok here’s what we’ve got…

Tech Specs:

  • 9.7 inch screen
  • “Multi-touch” touch-screen interface (ok Android you better get on that multi-touch ASAP!!!)
  • 1.5 pounds
  • 1/2 inch thick
  • Up to 10 hours of battery power (watching continuous video), with 1 month standby
  • Some models support 3G Network (only with AT&T… booooo hisss…)
  • Built-in speakers
  • Full touch screen keyboard
  • Accelerometer
  • Compass

Now the big questions… How much does this game changing magical device cost?   And when can I get my hands on one???

Well, for those light days- $499 for the 16GB; regular days- $599 for the 32GB and for the heavy days- $699 for the 64GB.you need the…  Max-iPad!!! haha Ok, last one I promise!  And the wait?  Not to long.  In about 2 months you can have one of your very own and be the envy of all of your friends!

The only thing thats missing for me… A camera???  I’m guessing that’ll come on the  2nd gen model, so well all feel like we need to drop another $500 to get the better model!

ohhhh… and side note, I CAN’T wait to see the iPad commercials!!!

Spiderman 4… Will the Real Peter Parker Please Stand up? January 20, 2010

With all the drama surrounding the next Spiderman Movie … The most recent news has made me feel well…  (insert musical interlude!)

Marc Webb, of 500 Days of Summer, will be directing!  Which I am super excited about.  I mean really his last name is WEBB!!!  You may wonder why I’m not listing all the other wonderful projects that Marc has worked on in his long and illustrious career.  Well, that’s because it hasn’t been long… or illustrious, unless you consider directing “Jesse McCartney: Up Close”  a real winner!  But, if you’ve seen 500 Days of Summer you can still join me in my joy!  And hey, I love that Hollywood’s giving some up and comers a real shot (HELLO… District 9.  Neil Blomkamp!)

Anyway, since Mr. Toby Maguire will be leaving the role of Peter Parker, all eyes are now on Joseph Gordon-Levitt!  Which makes me feel well… (insert musical interlude!)

I am super excited about the prospect of a new Peter Parker, my only concern?  They want to go back to when Peter Parker is still in High School.  Not so sure about that decision…  But, at least if Webb wants to put in another musical montage , like this horrible one in Spiderman 3…

Or this even more embarrassing one…

At least we know Gordon-Levitt can actually pull it off!!!  Now, if we could only get that Kirsten Dunst girl replaced with Zooey Deschanel…

My New Top 5 Comics!!! December 2, 2009

I thought I’d share some of my fav comics out now… I have been feeling a little swamped with all the Blackest Night Green Lantern, Titans, Batman, Superman, Corps, Britney Spears… Ok, maybe not that last one, but you get the idea!  I mean really dreaming about black rings is just not healthy!

So, I thought I’d start fresh with a few new comics.  And let me tell you, these ones should NOT BE MISSED!

  1. IMAGE UNITED– (Image) Image founders doing all the characters they do best!  All in ONE COMIC!  I MEAN REALLY!!!
  2. STUMPTOWN– (Oni Press) Lots of similarities between this heroine and Batwoman in Detective Comics… Maybe that’s because they are both badass creations from the mind of Greg Rucka!
  3. CINDERELLA FROM FABLETOWN WITH LOVE– (Vertigo) We all know the fairy tale, but the most exciting stuff is what happens after that!  Bond, Cinderella Bond.  Ok maybe that joke doesn’t work… But, whatever, she’s a spy!  Oh, and she owns a shoe boutique!
  4. MARVELOUS LAND OF OZ– (Marvel) If this series is anything like The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, well, I will certainly be following that yellow brick road!
  5. SKY PIRATES OF NEO TERRA– (Image) The artwork in here is just amazing!  Camilla d’Errico is giving JH Williams III a run for his money as my favorite artist!

Comic books going the way of the Newspaper & Magazine??? November 16, 2009

I do pretty much everything from my computer or from my phone.  Most of my friends are the exact same way about pretty much everything, except for one… COMIC BOOKS!  Yes, I am a comic book geek.  And yes, I have subscriptions at my comic book store of choice (Midtown Comics) for my weekly fix of floppies.

But, I have to say when you live in a little apartment, sometimes the idea of getting all my comics electronically is pretty tempting…

But, that’s just silly right?  No, true fanboy would do that right???  I’m not so sure anymore.  I mean the fact that all the heavy hitters are doing digital comics, motion comics and interactive stuff on the web makes it seem like this might be a direction I need to start taking more seriously… So, maybe having something that can support the amazing artwork and stories is out there… I just have to find it…  Enter the rumored Apple Tablet!

What do you guys think?

Check out what Gizmodo has to say…

Coolest Baby Ever!!! October 29, 2009

Anyone who knows me knows, I can be a little awkward around babies.  I mean I never know what to do with them.  I feel like I’m going to drop them or break them somehow.  And I don’t do the whole baby talk thing or funny faces.  I just want them to be like 2 years old and be able to have funny little chats with them.  And everyone always say, “Oh, one that that will all change!”

Well, that day has arrived!  Because this might just be the coolest baby I have ever seen!  I think we’ve got a little fanboy in the making!

It’s about that time… one week till Halloween.   I know we are all trying to come up with what to dress up as… for most girls their thinking: slutty nurse, slutty ladybug, slutty vampire…  For me, I’m thinking teenage mutant ninja turtle, Ducktales, Lara Croft… but when I saw this video I knew what I HAD to be!  Check it out for yourself!  And if you know how I can get my hands on one of these bad boys, help a girl out!!!

The mainstream business world has definitely caught on to the fact that there is a huge fan base in comic books!  Those suits can just hear that money rolling in!  Let’s just hope that DC and Marvel don’t give in and start adding in fairy princesses and bunnies to all of our favorite bad ass comics!

I mean don’t get me wrong, I love a good Disney animated movie, but let’s keep the Mouse and Bunny where they belong.  And to show my good faith here is my ode to Disney… well my ode via Pogo…

Disney bought Marvel for … $4 Billion

Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc, bought DC Comics for… $4 Billion

disney-logomarvel-avengers-logo

warner_bros_logo1dc-logo

Apparently $4 billion is the magic number… Guess I better start saving if I want to buy Image and turn it into my own little comic plaything.  Saving so far… 3 dollars 44 cents… sooo close only about 4 billion to go!

Vampire Diaries Premiere… September 13, 2009

Vampire Diaries Promo

So…  I have to admit I am a Twilight fan, but the wait for New Moon has been a little long, so when there was talk of a new angsty vampire teen romance I could get obsessed with I was torn!  Should I boycott and stay true to Edward, or try my luck with a new clan in the CW’s Vampire Diaries?

Since I pretty much love every show on the CW there was a good chance I’d like this one.  So, on Thursday night I started watching… Here’s the Cliffs Notes version of the plot line…  It’s based on the book series from L.J. Smith’s, The Vampire Diaries.  And if you are a true vampire fan, then saying that the love story is very similar to that of Dark Shadows would be enough…  Vampire loves a non-vamp girl who dies and years later he happens upon another non-vamp girl who looks exactly like his former love… oh yeah and it’s set in a high school this time, but they didn’t ditch the old English style castle for the Vampires humble abode.  Ok, so the scene’s set.

The show is a little campy with fog and crows and ominous music…   But, I kind of LOVED IT!!!  I reminded me of another old CW show that I loved… Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

ninaPaulWesleyOf course all the actors are beautiful!  Would you expect anything less from the CW!?  Playing the leads Nina Dobrev, from Degrassi; Paul Wesley, previously on Army Wives & 24.  And drum roll please… my personal favorite Ian Somerhalder!!!

Ian1

Yes, I am so glad that he is back on the small screen.  When Boone was killed off of Lost I was heartbroken.  Fortunately, in this case… he is playing a vampire so he can’t be killed off, cause by definition a vampire is- “the reanimated body of a dead person believed to come from the grave at night and suck the blood of persons”(thank you very much Merriam-Websters.)  Great career move buddy… no one’s job is stable in these difficult times.

Consensus is…  Mix a little Buffy, Dawson’s Creek and Dark Shadows and you have got one amazing Thursday night!  My suggestion… if you haven’t started watching, sit your butt on the couch & get to watching!
