Interviews with the cast of Fast Five in RIOOOOOoOOooO! April 29, 2011

OD’ed on all things Royal? The only cure, Fast & Furious! It’s the fifth installment of the franchise and I gotta say it is my favorite of the bunch!  Little heavy on plot, but I mean really are you going to see these for the plot? Not so much…

There are serious car chases, explosions, parkour, hot men, Brazilian women and most of the Torretto gang is back for this last… last, last job!

So…Here’s the proof that I was in fact working in Rio! Learning the ancient art of the staredown for Attack of the Show.

And is it just me or am I seeing A LOT more Dodge Chargers on the streets of LA since Friday??? Dodge better say a HUGGGEEE thanks to Mr. Diesel for making those cars look almost as badass as a his usual vintage beasts!

Dom's New Ride

ps… do yourself a favor, when you see this movie make sure you stay through the credits… hint… her name is Eva 😉

Just a little tease…BTS at the Fast Five Junket! April 27, 2011

We are almost there! It’s almost time to see Fast Five on April 29th! But, before the film arrives & before my interviews air on G4’s Attack of the Show, I wanted to take you behind the scenes with me!

So, with the first of the 2 “Final” Harry Potter films wrapped and about to be released starting this November, Miss Rowling is starting the press circuit and making an appearance on Oprah today… check out the drama!

Now here is the reallllllllllyyyyy juicy bit… apparently Rowling hints at possibly writing more Harry Potter books!!!

I can’t wait to see the interview, but I am not entirely sure how excited I’d be about more books.  Everyone’s been tossing around the word reboot with all the super hero flicks from Spiderman to Superman, but could we see that with Harry Potter as well?  I mean after all ***SPOILER ALERT*** Harry is an older man, happily married to Ginny with kids at the end of Deathly Hallows!  Could we possibly see the films coming out 10 yrs from now and Danny Rad still playing the lead?  What do you guys think????

So this movie, rocked my world!  And this spoof is just… VERY GOOOOOODDD!!!

My Avatar Review… After 2 viewings & Q&A with JAMES CAMERON!!! Yeah I know!!! February 16, 2010

Ok, so I know this might seem like it’s a bit late for an Avatar review, especially since it was released in December and it’s now February,  but, trust me I have  a good reason!  I did in fact see it on opening day, December 18th, in 3D Imax, which was definitely an experience.  But, I was waiting to see it again this week followed by a Q&A with the man himself, James Cameron!!!!!!!  I think it was worth the wait to hear what he had to say about the film after it had been out for a while and became the highest-grossing film of all time.  And it’s worth a mention that the film taking spot number 2 is Cameron’s work too, Titanic.  Umm yeah, he’s rich.

So, here was my experience seeing it opening day.  Of course I got there super early because I wanted to be dead center for the best immersive experience, and I guess every other excited nerd in the city had the same idea!  I go out to get popcorn and an Icee (manditory movie snackage) when I come back well, just imagine who you think would be going to see Avatar on opening day and you’ve got a pretty good idea of whose stuffed into the seats to my right and left!  They look at me with shock and awe, “We were just discussing what fat greasy man was going to be sitting between us!  But, you’re not fat OR greasy!”  I politely giggle, giving my best, that’s sweet but please don’t talk to me smile. WRONG CHOICE!  The one to my right, proceeds to tell me how he’s asked 3 other ladies to join him for this incredible movie going experience, but was turned down…  Which is lucky for him because he ended up on a date with me!  At least that’s what he decided to share with me.

Here’s a note to all guys, just because you are sitting next to a single woman at a movie theater, that DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE ON A DATE WITH THEM!

Ok, now that we’ve gotten that gem of wisdom out of the way,  the movie starts and I won’t lie, I was glad to have people next to me who were just as excited as I was!  Who’d read up on all the pre movie hype and were legit fans, because it was fun to get to be like, DID YOU JUST SEE THAT?!!  And know they were just as giddy as I was.  But, I swear if their hand went for my popcorn or anywhere over the armrest barrier I was going to lay the smack down!

I’m going to bypass giving a detailed description of the film and just say this… One part Ferngully, one part Pochahantas, throw in a few giant blue cat monkeys oh, some Halo Master Cheif suits and some serious AWESOME!  And that is Avatar!

I know it might sound like those movies are a little lame, but I don’t mean it that way at all.  This movie was a fantastic adventure, it was the first time I have seen a 3D movie where I forgot that it was in 3D!  It wasn’t like silly moments of bullets flying at the camera for shock sake (although I will say when they shot the gas guns into Hometree I jumped.)  It was everything that I expected and more!  Cameron does a great job of completely pulling you into the story and making you feel for the characters!  I mean when it comes down to it, this movie is an action romance!  He never forgot that.  We got incredible action sequences that seemed like I was playing Halo in 3D, and still got those perfect moments where you could see Jake and Neytiri’s chemistry.  (Unlike in the Twilight film when all of a sudden Edward and Bella are supposed to be in love.)  But, I mean really, the priceless unobtainable mineral that the big bad humans are after is called, UNOBTAINIUM?  I guess he used up all his creative juices on the new technology to capture the actors performances and make the movie the best 3D thing ever!  I mean he’s not perfect!

The acting was so much fun to watch.  Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington were a huge part of what made this movie so believable.  But, since they were Na’vi for most of the film it did make me wonder how much was in their actual performance and how much the WETA animating magicians made happen.  Having Cameron there in person to talk and explain more in detail made me appreciate it that much more.  He said that was a big part of the technology they were waiting on and developing.  He wanted to show the footage of the actors next to the films animated footage so that we could see how exactly they transfered the actors performances into these giant blue Pandoran aliens.

I loved the small moments where you could see the scale of the Na’vi to the humans, when Jake first becomes his avatar, in the final fight scene when Neytiri saves Jake’s human body, and when they try to transfer Grace and Jake to their avatar bodies permanently.  I liked being reminded that this was a fantasy world with glowing plants, flying jellyfish tree seed and GIANT aliens!  It was perfect.

It would be impossible to see this movie and not see that Cameron was trying to tell us all something about how we are treating the environment.  He said that the Na’vi are a part of us that really wants to appreciate the Earth.  When he discussed it he was incredibly passionate about the idea that you can use entertainment and say something good with it!  Which I totally agree with, I don’t think everything always has to have a message, but why not use the voice you’ve got.

He talked about coming up with the idea for Avatar, and that it did not come to him over night.  He mentioned how artists during the Surrealist movement would just paint what they dreamed with no thought of what it meant, and let the audience connect with it on that dream level.  Parts of this film were his dreams, specifically the flying.  Cameron said he always had dreams of flying as a child and that the film really helps to get people back to that childlike place.  I have to say those were my favorite scenes in the movie!  When Jake connects with his Ikran and takes off in the floating Hallelujah Mountains, that was amazing!  And I mean the scene where he flies in on Toruk even cooler!  I WANT MY ONE OF MY OWN!

The ending was perfect.  Period.  A great full circle moment, the movie opens with Jake Sully beginning this new life on Pandora as his human self and ends with him beginning his life as a Na’vi.

The real question is … when do I get to being my life as a Na’vi???  I can’t wait for Avatar 2.  I will be there opening day ready for date number 2 gentlemen!

Spiderman 4… Will the Real Peter Parker Please Stand up? January 20, 2010

With all the drama surrounding the next Spiderman Movie … The most recent news has made me feel well…  (insert musical interlude!)

Marc Webb, of 500 Days of Summer, will be directing!  Which I am super excited about.  I mean really his last name is WEBB!!!  You may wonder why I’m not listing all the other wonderful projects that Marc has worked on in his long and illustrious career.  Well, that’s because it hasn’t been long… or illustrious, unless you consider directing “Jesse McCartney: Up Close”  a real winner!  But, if you’ve seen 500 Days of Summer you can still join me in my joy!  And hey, I love that Hollywood’s giving some up and comers a real shot (HELLO… District 9.  Neil Blomkamp!)

Anyway, since Mr. Toby Maguire will be leaving the role of Peter Parker, all eyes are now on Joseph Gordon-Levitt!  Which makes me feel well… (insert musical interlude!)

I am super excited about the prospect of a new Peter Parker, my only concern?  They want to go back to when Peter Parker is still in High School.  Not so sure about that decision…  But, at least if Webb wants to put in another musical montage , like this horrible one in Spiderman 3…

Or this even more embarrassing one…

At least we know Gordon-Levitt can actually pull it off!!!  Now, if we could only get that Kirsten Dunst girl replaced with Zooey Deschanel…

New Moon REVIEW November 21, 2009

Tags: , , , , , , ,

Let me start off by saying that I am a huge Twilight fan.  Read all the books, had a countdown to the movie première and even suckered friends into seeing it with me using some classic birthday girl puppy dog eyes!  Which after seeing the film… I wish I hadn’t done!

New Moon was in fact BETTER than Twilight.  But, if you saw the first one… well that’s not saying a whole lot.

Definitely better acting, special effects and hair make up (hello they even got Rosalie a WIG this time around!  BIIIIIIIIIIGGGGG $$$)

There were tons of guys there probably guilted into seeing the movie,  but I have to say there were ladies there of all ages from cougars to cubs to new-born baby pups.  I mean I think that the film industry really is going to take notice of how powerful the female ticket really is!  But, on behalf of the ladies…  Girls do we all have to oooh and ahhh at every cheesy shirtless moment?  It honestly made me so uncomfortable!  Like, as uncomfortable as chatting with my parents about the birds and the bees.  And, I mean R.Pattz looked pretty freakin’ uncomfortable disrobing for all to stare!  YEAH awwwwwkward!

This book was my favorite of the series, as I was reading it I could feel what Bella felt.  (yes… even techie loving, comic book reading girls can have their mushy moments!)  But, I think that it was hard to translate to the big screen.  I mean I know the part where the months go by was cool in the book, but it was a FAILLLL for the big screen.  One moment that did work.  One of the perfect moments was when Bella and Edward return from Italy and they are in Bella’s room and he tells her he’ll never leave her.  (Insert group “awwwhhhh!”) My little girly heart definitely skipped a beat!

If they can bring Eclipse up a few more notches it might just be a viewable movie for those few people in the world whos’ judgment is not clouded by a connection to the love story from the books, or Jacob and Edwards on-screen hottie biscotti factor.

The countdown to Eclipse has officially begun!

PS. I am still TEAM EDWARD ALL THE WAY!

Ahhh the Joys of Fall!!! November 5, 2009

When you ask most people what’s your favorite time of year?…  They’d probably say Summer or the Holiday season… But, I say this year the very best of 2009 is happening RIGHT NOW!!!  NOVEMBERRRRRRR!!!  Let me tell you why:

Top 5 Reason to LOVE November 2009

1. November 6th-  THE DROID- Verizon FINALLY has a kick ass smartphone

2. November 10th- CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2- I haven’t been this excited about a new game since Halo 3!!!  Ok let’s be real since Rock Band!  haha

3. November 20th- NEW MOON- Vampires, Italy, Werewolves, Romance… oh & Robert Pattinson!  Need I say more!

4. November 27- THANKSGIVING- Do you really need a reason to be excited about a day where you just get to stuff yourself like a turkey with amazing home cooked food???

5.  November 29th- MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Happy Birthday to me!

And THAT my friends is why November is the best month ever. Period.

Did typing out that period part make it seem even more final?  Yeah it did, it totally did!

Prince Of Persia: Sands of Time PREVIEW

Prince of Persia is one movie I am so looking forward to, I mean with childlike excitement.  This is going to be my live action Aladdin!!!  That Aladdin character was pretty cute, but Prince Dastan!  YOWSA!!!  So, they cast, Jake Gyllenhaal as the lead.  When I saw the first images of him all beefed up… I thought, “Hey, maybe this guy can pull it off!”

I mean come on, how can you go wrong with a movie that’s got epic sandstorms, battles, medieval princes & princesses, demons… oh and a magical dagger?!?  I’m expecting fantastic special effects and tons of witty dialogue.  Jerry Bruckeimer is producing, and he did and AMAZING job with the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, so I am really hoping that he pulls it off again!  (I’m sure Disney is too!  Cause God knows they need some more money!  ahah)

It’s a Disney flick.  For me this is make or break for Disney.  If they can make this movie and stay true to what all the gamers love about the story, then I think I will have a little more faith in them for their recent Marvel take over!

One thing I am not looking forward to when the movie is released on May 28th… THE BRITISH ACCENTS!!!  Really?!?!  It’s called THE PRINCE OF PERSIA!!!!!!!!!

Jury’s still out if I should be more excited about the film release… or the rumors about a new Ubisoft Prince of Persia game????  eek!

As if I needed any more reasons to love STAR TREK!!!! October 12, 2009

So, you all know how much I loved the latest Star Trek movie.  J.J. Abrams- amazing, the starship looked great, actors were perfect, Nemoy!!!!… blah blah blah… and I mean seriously it was really successful, another one is in the works and they all made loads of money (a lot from me… but mostly from all of you guys too!)

And now… this comes out!!!  Ugh… Now not only is the movie awesome, but the set seems like it was so much fun!  Love to see good actors, crew, directors and everyone having fun on set and making kick ass movies!  Because after all it is just play and playing should be FUN…

I can’t wait to see what other extras are on the dvd release in November!  SSSSSOooo excited!
